Isopet

IsoPet utilizes yttrium-90 as a tool for cancer treatment. It delivers a targeted dose of radiation (200 to 400 gray) to treat cancer. The yttrium-90 in IsoPet emits short-range beta radiation, minimizing the effect on adjacent tissues. While IsoPet requires a single treatment session, it may involve multiple injections depending on the tumor size and location. The gel used in IsoPet flows easily at low temperatures and solidifies at body temperature, ensuring it stays localized at the injection site. This high-precision approach typically requires only one treatment with minimal systemic side effects for our patients. As an outpatient procedure, IsoPet minimizes radiation exposure for horse handlers after discharge. The radioactive material has a half-life of 2.7 days, meaning that after 10 days, only about 5% of the radioactivity remains. It's important to note that IsoPet is still under development and may have some risks involved.
